Day of the Dead


At this cultural celebration of life we offer an adult, child and family friendly atmosphere. We offer art based activities, free hot drinks and pan dulce for all, food and other snacks will be for sale. Join us and enjoy decorating your own sugar skull, get your face painted as a Catrina, enter in our Catrina Contest (more details on our FB page) and enjoy other craft and art activities while dancers, actor, poets and singers take the stage. On Tuesday, July 18, the workshop is held and is taught from 6:45 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Our goal is to meet, coexist and teach in community through community workshops the zapateado. These workshops are open to all and are more focused on sharing steps and dances as a form of exercise, fun and introduction to Mexican folk dance and its history.

The Ballet Folklorico Tlanese is part of the Casa de la Cultura Tlanese an organization with a 501 (c) (3) that was founded in Salem, Oregon in 2005. It all started when Paola Sumoza one of the ballet co-founders attended the School North Salem High School.
